Filmed in July 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, this music video was a testament to creativity and determination in the face of unique challenges. With restrictions in place, we had to think outside the box to bring this vision to life, relying on remote collaboration and improvisation to make it all happen.
One of the highlights of this project was the opportunity to work with Cory Marks again. It’s always a pleasure collaborating with him, and his passion and dedication brought so much energy to the production. Cory’s presence, along with the incredible performances of the two main characters, helped elevate the video to perfectly match the intensity and emotion of the song.
Another standout moment was working with Lzzy Hale. Her involvement was an absolute pleasure, and her scenes were filmed by her bandmate and guitarist, Joe Hottinger. I directed remotely via FaceTime, and despite the distance, their collaboration was seamless. Lzzy’s energy and Joe’s precision behind the camera made this part of the production truly unforgettable.
The rest of the video was filmed over two days, and the rain scene was a magical moment where nature became the perfect collaborator. The unexpected rainfall added an organic, dramatic touch that couldn’t have been planned better, amplifying the mood of the video in a way that felt meant to be.
This project was a creative journey filled with teamwork, remote direction, and a little bit of luck to overcome the challenges of the pandemic. I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved and grateful to Cory, Lzzy, and everyone involved for bringing this vision to life.
