This short documentary was created for the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation as a tribute to love, remembrance, and legacy.
At the heart of the film is the love story of Brigadier-General (Retired) Ron Button and his wife Janet. Married for 66 years, Ron and Janet’s journey together came full circle at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, where Janet took her final breath. Their story became a quiet, powerful way to honour not only their life together, but the many families who carry similar memories.
Each September, the Foundation hosts a Memorial Reception to recognize loved ones who have been remembered through memorial donations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, gathering in person was not possible. This film was created as an alternative — a way to pause, reflect, and say thank you to donors while honouring those who are no longer with us. Individuals featured in the film have been remembered through memorial gifts. When cumulative donations in an individual’s memory reach $2,000, their name is added to the Celebrating Life Memorial Wall at the North Bay Regional Health Centre — a permanent place of recognition and gratitude.
This project was approached with care and restraint, allowing space for reflection rather than explanation, and letting the story speak quietly for itself.

This film centres on the Pace family, who share the story of their parents, Angela and Murray — a love story rooted in family, community, and a lifelong connection to North Bay’s hospitals. Through their own words, the Pace children reflect on who their parents were, the values they carried, and the meaningful way they chose to honour their lives.
