The French River is a true gem right in our backyard… 🚣♂️✨ It’s easy to see why this area has been cherished for generations. Every bend revealed a new, perfect spot to pause and take it all in. What’s even better is how close this adventure is to home. Just a short drive from North Bay, and you’re in a place that feels worlds away. I can’t recommend it enough! 🌊🌲 Take a moment to check out some of the highlights I found along the way… I paddled through some truly memorable spots… Not long after starting, I reached Recollet Falls, a stunning sight that really set the tone for the whole trip. That first night, I camped at site 603, which was a perfect, peaceful retreat under the stars. The next day, I made it all the way out to the Sturgeon Chutes—an absolutely breathtaking area. After that, I paddled back to the Pickerel River and set up camp at site 631 for the night. On the way home, I encountered a turkey vulture and what appeared to be a deceased deer floating in the water, a stark reminder of nature's cycle of life and death.
